Margaret River, Caves Rd -
Dearest Intrepid Reader,
Today, we had the most beautiful day.
Beautiful scenery.
Beautiful food.
Beautiful sculpture.
Beautiful weather. Cold but beautiful.
The south west corner is presenting her best self today.
John and Jenny have been to Margaret River area several times in the last ten years and they were keen to share their favourite places with us.
There has been significant rainfall in the last few months so the paddocks are lush green, the stock well fed and the creeks and rivers are flowing.
The tour directors did have to change or delay their plans a few times to avoid rain, but we did not get wet. Jenny did resort to putting on her wet weather pants in the middle of a chocolate shop at one point, but they were not needed. The rest of us, kept the faith, and to date, 30 days into our trip, we still have not put on the wet weather gear.
Margaret River is most famous for being home to over 200 wineries. However, for the MOTH, he will remember it is where he found his new pair of riding jeans, and how much they cost!
John, pointed out to him a Red Cross shop as we were looking around Margaret River Main Street. We finally came back down that side of the street and he ducked in for a quick look.
He is always pretty fast when it comes to shopping. In no time at all he found a no nonsense, plain size 38 pair. He was a bit shocked at the price, $12.00. He usually likes to pay $5.00. As they fitted well, he has now relinquished the old blow out pair.
Goanna
Providore
A very interesting fact on ladybirds. They are just so helpful.
Margaret River Chocolate Company
These gums nuts were everywhere, all over the road as well, huge piles of them.
I thought this looked delicious. It was called Croissant Custard Slice with raspberries and Chocolate “ The MOTH spied me looking at it and came over. He looked at it and said, That’s just bread pudding, you make that! I do indeed! He is my biggest fan. I bought a piece anyway, to take home to have with our night cuppa. He was right of course, he usually is. However, I may just be a little bit fancy and use croissants myself, the next time I make, bread pudding !
Jenny even as spyder socks!
Cow Town or Cowaramup
Swings and Roundabouts for lunch! We had a small glass of their latest Rose, and just a taste test of the Mulled Wine.
Cape Naturaliste Lighthouse
How the lighthouse use to look back in the day!
Where is Jenny? A selfie gone wrong. We tried again, see above !
It has been wonderful to experience a part of Australia that we have heard so much about. It is also a place we would like to come back to and spend some more time. I think we will do that, when we grow up and get a caravan.
When you ride out to find the way, the way will appear.
Until next time.
