Monkey Mia - 7624kms in the bank.
Dearest Intrepid Reader,
Just a rest day today. Catching up on the washing. John is not very well, hopefully some medication and he will be better again tomorrow.
We have explored Denham. After a sleepy start for this little village the boat ramp has become very active, it seems everyone brings a boat to Denham. Lots of fishing for whiting at the moment.
This Restaurant looks very old, however it was built in the 70s.
These fish cleaning stations are a great idea. It seems they are well used as the next one we happened upon, had a production line set up for the cleaning and filleting of a large catch of local whiting.
The Visitor Information centre hosts a beautiful memorial to HMAS Sydney ll, that was sunk and lost all hands( 645 on board )on the 19th of November 1941. The wreck was found 112 Nautical Miles off Steep Point in 2008.
Our daughter served on HMAS Sydney IV until it was decommissioned in February 2015. This is the photo of HMAS Sydney IV sailing into Sydney Harbour for the last time. Her decommissioning pennant was so long it had to be held up by weather balloons. She served from 1983 until 2015, the pennant is a foot long for every year of service.
We took a short ride down to Monkey Mia. It is really just the resort. We were too late to see the dolphins, but I have some photos from the resorts page to show the experience on offer.
We have done lots of walking around Denham today. I found this Church of Shells my parents had told me about.
St Andrew’s by the Sea. It is built from Hamelin Pool Shell Blocks.
It is hard to see, however there is a Pearl Lugger in the stained glass window.
Tomorrow, we get back to riding, we head south to Geraldton.
As you ride out to find the way the way will appear.
Until Next time
MOTH and LOL
