Calliope - 523 Kms in the Bank.

Dearest Intrepid Reader,

In the definition of the word ‘Intrepid” it mentions fearless, adventurous, fortitude and endurance, but that it is often used for rhetorical or humorous effect. The readership will definitely need fortitude and endurance as this is a long trip and I am new to this blogging world so you may need to humor my efforts somewhat.

So you will be addressed as above, in the coming entries.

Just a short day today.

We are staying with Jenny and John tonight our companions for the Journey. We have just been reflecting on how it seems not long ago we had 90 days to go and now here we are, leaving all together tomorrow.

We started the day at the Simmons Bakery in Bilo and I have long waited to snap this photo of our trikes out the front.

We had and easy 94kms along the Dawson Highway, with cool and windy conditions.

A few curves and inclines as we passed through the Callide Ranges, they are 453metres above sea level.

Calliope is a town that came into existence as Queensland’s first officially proclaimed goldfield in 1863.

Below, is a picture of our charging station. Despite being a Generation X Born 1965-1980 and Baby Boomer 1946-1964 we have embraced technology, and have many devices that require charging. Such as iphones, senna comms units, iWatch, blue tooth speaker and laptop. We are also staying in different accommodation types so we had to have a portable adaptable solution for each of these. We have come up with a small car back of seat organizer, and this amazing kambrook that has the small and large charging ports. This rides in the MOTHs topbox and is easy to access. However it also clips onto and hangs in just the right spot when we sleep in the camper. We would like to thank our children who have increased our capacity in this area of technology by often refusing to help us out so we would learn to manage it ourselves.

John is the Kookaburra Whisperer and they come daily to feed. Laughing Kookaburras are monogamous retaining the same partner for life. A breeding pair can be accompanied by up to five fully grown non-breeding off-spring from previous years that help the parents defend their territory and raise their young. No wonder they cash in when a free feed is on offer.

As you ride out to find the way, the way will appear”

Until Next time….
