Hervey Bay- The Loveliness
The Triglide Harley is called the Harley, because according to the MOTH, bikes don’t have names. Its this sheer simplicity of thinking that I truly appreciate daily in my life and have done so now for nearly 39years.
However that does not in any way limit my ongoing analysis and search for meaning in all things. It just helps me not to get lost, both metaphorically and actually.
So then, why is my ride called the Loveliness?
Well, she is red and black, and particularly beautiful just like a lady bird.
A group of Lady birds, is in fact, a Loveliness. Thus her name was cast.
The name is my reminder of how grateful I am for all the women in my life. Women need other women.
It is for my Mum, and for my daughter, for all the women I have met in my career, the women I ride with, both those on the front and the dedicated pillions, for my sons partner, for the women I exercise with, and those who I am yet to meet.
I love the story telling, the secrets, the high pitched laughter and the occasional snort, the wisdom, the resilience, the education, and even the nastiness at times, that I have come to realize has taught me lessons that has improved who I am.
Of course I am abundantly grateful and incredibly fortunate for the wonderful men in my life with the top three being the Moth, my Son and my father.
However, this is about how the Loveliness came to have her name.
She’s my ride, and she is pretty bloody, awesome.
She is more than just a name. She is the Sports Touring Model, ST 2015, Touroz.
She has 1500cc of power from her Mitsubishi Motor, coupled with a 7 speed automatic transmission. The power to weight ratio means she can get up to speed pretty quickly, only if she needs to.
She has reverse and also in sports mode you can have a play through gears with a paddle shift near the left grip.
We leave tomorrow.
As you ride out to find the way, the way will appear”
Until Next time….
MOTH and LOL (Actually its really just from LOL)
