Katherine - 3971kms in the Bank.

After leaving Larrimah we called into Mataranka about 90 kms down the road to enjoy the Thermal pools.

Once again it was thick with people enjoying the school holidays, so we had a couple of kicks in the back and few belts with a pool noodle or two. However this was sure to increase the safety in regard to crocodiles.

It was not far down the road to our stop for the night at Katherine. This marks about the quarter point for our lap journey. We are staying at the Riverview Tourist Village. Katherine is situated on the Katherine river, after which it is named. It has a populations of about 9000. It is known as the place where the outback meets the tropics.

Jenny and John are going on a beautiful 2 hour cruise in the Katherine Gorge in Nitmiluk National Park this afternoon.

We will head down to the back of the caravan park again this afternoon and there is some inviting thermal pools, that we tried out yesterday afternoon as well.
