Torquay - VIC

Dearest Intrepid Reader,

Today we are having a rest day. We are staying at the Wyndham.

Torquay is known for its surf beaches such as Bells Beach and Jan Juc Beach. It is home to the National Surfing Museum.

Actually, I didn’t think we needed a rest day, but now that we are having one we actually do.

We have caught up with the activities of daily living, like washing.

The Loveliness has had a quick wash and her bags cleaned and polished with a bit of leather lust.

We took some time out for a walk along the Esplanade and had lunch at Pholklore. A Vietnamese Style restaurant, Jenny and John had been to before and loved.

This was our first Vietnamese experience!

We had the Bahn Mi, Rice Paper Rolls and Pho combo. It came is a huge bowl, so the MOTH was very happy and really wanted to take the bowl home for his weetbix.

Pho is a soup dish, combining broth, rice noodles, herbs and meat. Most traditionally meat. It is considered to be Vietnam’s national dish.

Traditional Vietnamese cooking uses fresh ingredients, not much oils or dairy. Textures are a focus and herbs and vegetables are plentiful. It is a very healthy option being low in sugar and often gluten free, as many of the dishes are rice based rather than wheat based.

Situated on the Esplanade at Torquay it was a great outlook.

The place was busy and we spotted a celebrity. We kept very calm and took a sneaky photo.

You can see we virtually had lunch with him! I wish Kath was with him.

We found a Sundial on our walk home. The time was correct.

Sun dials are the earliest time keeping device. They indicate the time by a shadow, in this case created by the MOTH.

As the day progresses the sun moves accross the sky causing the shadow of the object, to move, indicating the passing of time.

If you live in the Southern hemisphere. As we do, sundials should be pointing southwards. If you live in the northern hemisphere then they should point towards the north. Pretty amazing hey!

When you ride out to find the way

The way will appear, even if you just need a car wash.

Until next time

MOTH and LOL
