Bliss and Joy - 11 436kms

Dearest Intrepid Reader,

Today was a beautiful day.

As two Presbyterian girls, Jenny and I, popped into the tiny Travellers Chapel at Border Village. It’s a serene and old fashioned place of worship, to give thanks to god, for all denominations, for the blessings bestowed upon us. We did just that!

We were only minutes up the road today, when the MOTH who was up front pointed to the right, and we came to the first beautiful, out look of the day!

The MOTH only went to the sign and no further. That, still is very naughty. He just wanted all others to be aware, to be careful.

This the Bunda Cliffs looking to the East from where they start at the scenic Look out, Great Australian Bight.

Again Looking East.

Frighteningly the MOTH kept getting into elevated positions to get the best photos.

Many ashes and memories of loved ones had been left here at this incredible creation of nature, in this still growing makeshift cairn.

The cliffs were formed approximately 65 million years ago, when Australia separated from Antartica. They are made up of a fossiliferous limestone called Wilson limestone.

As we ventured back out onto the Eyre Highway, in search of the Bunda Cliffs lookout…..

I was filled with Bliss and Joy.

On the left was the treeless plain stretching out to the horizon and on the right was the majestic rugged, yet beautiful cliffs of the Great Australian Bight.

The sun was in a perfect position, the sky was clear and blue. I was riding the Lovliness, the most outstanding TourOz trike in all the world.

The Moth was out in front of me, the Sister of the road could be seen in the rear view mirror and her John was behind her.

They were all in the moment enjoying their rides just as much as me and it was only the four of us out there.

My joy was only tripled knowing they were as happy as I was in that moment.

It was, as if, my whole life had led up to this moment I was in right now.

Then….

My Senna crackled and the MOTHs voice booms, “ Are you Ok?”, “Why have you slowed down?”.

I explained I was enjoying the moment and he suggested to enjoy it while keeping up to the speed limit.

It’s why I have him. So I could not be cross.

So I said, “l would do what I want”, but sped up anyway.

Days like today, are why we ride!

Nearly 100kms down the road we were at the Bunda Cliffs lookout.

We then went on to the Nullarbor Roadhouse. Confirmed our accommodation. We had planned for a powered site, however the wind had picked up and no pegs were allowed due to shallow electrical cables. So at risk of being blown away during the night, we took the last room available. No ensuite but that’s ok.

We then headed out to the Head of the Bight.

At one point, we could see al least 20 Southern Right Whales, both near and far. One single whale Breached six times just out in front of us.

The timber walk ways go both left and right and we walked both ways !

Looking back down the Bunda Cliffs to the west from the Head of the Bight!

We had another beautiful meal at the Road house. We parked the trikes beside a plane out the back of our cabin and the sun, then set, on the most resplendent of days in the outback of Australia.

We had a wine from the Barossa Valley to celebrate our entry into South Australia, even if I did forget, momentarily the Barossa was in South Australia. It’s been a big five weeks on the road. 35 days today.

Fuel is the most expensive we have seen, at $2.90 for 95. That said, we are grateful to get the 95. We had ten litres of 98 in the Jerry can, so the MOTH, popped that in the Harley. We had filled up the Jerry can at Norseman. We will no longer need the Jerrycan. We have also not needed the octane booster on this trip. So we will leave that here at the roadhouse, in case some other traveller does.

The map tells us, we are nearly three quarters of the way through our lap.

When you ride out to find the way, the way will appear!

Until Next time !

MOTH and Lol
